Transitional Programs

What is an HIV Transitional Program?

A transitional program is housing you can stay at for a short period of time. They offer a lot of support. They also have a lot of rules. They can help you find permanent housing while you are living there.

Sometimes you have to share an apartment or share a kitchen and bathroom. Some programs are just for persons with HIV and/or persons in recovery from drugs and alcohol. There are programs for men, women, and families.

If you graduate from a transitional program, you are "eligible" for other types of housing programs (like residential programs or scattered-site programs).
